And who wants to spend $60 for a film you're only going to view a few times when you can watch it online for $2.99? If you sell 3,000 copies of a DVD in North America today, you're doing pretty damn good."

In fact, those are amazing numbers in a business that releases roughly 500 new titles every month. Besides, Conway - whose work reminds me of earlier Jean-Daniel Cadinot and Kristen Bjorn - says most revenue today comes from the Internet.

"People marketing porn distribute films any way they can, from Internet streaming to downloading it to your iPod," Conway says. "You can even get a few minutes on your cellphone if you're in the mood for a quickie while you're waiting for your plane at the airport."

While California remains the epicentre of the porn biz, Conway's critically hailed flick Here Comes Santa was shot entirely in Montreal. "Montreal is probably the sexiest city in North America and a place where canvassing for models is very active. People here are willing to show their dick and ass for just about anybody in the street. The average American wouldn't even dream of doing that. There's a different mindset here [in Montreal]. So there's a lot of porn production here, and live webcam."
